finds … everything chevron!

Lately I have been drawn to everything chevron.  It’s a pattern that is being used in every aspect of design these days, from fashion to wallpaper and I love it.  It can be very chic and subdued, but I’m attracted to the playfulness of the bold pattern and the many variations of colour being used. Here are some simple and affordable ways to incorporate chevron into your home without investing a lot of time or money into a trend. a.  Schumacher Zenyatta Mondatta Peacock Chevron Lumbar Decorative Pillow Cover, habitationBoheme, Indianapolis, Indiana (www.etsy.com/shop/habitationBoheme) b. diy projects … Upcycling

In honour of Earth Day (April 22) I thought I would share some creative upcycling ideas for the home with you. According to Wikipedia, It’s about “converting waste materials or useless products into new products of better quality or of higher environmental value”. Essentially, upcycling is turning disposable items into something of greater use or value.  It reduces waste by re-using materials and cuts down on the use of virgin materials.  Happy environment = Happy home. Wine bottles for instance, could be recycled and made into glass of a lesser quality, or they could be upcycled and simply transformed into these fabulous bud vases or tiki torches. source: GreatBottlesofFire via ETSY Furniture can be made out of anything from old wooden rulers to a suitcase. source: www.decorhacks.com source: Photo By Stacie/Courtesy Flickr Even the big retail stores are taking part in upcycling.  This pendant light made of cardboard rings is available at www.cb2.com    Extreme upcycling.  A vanity made from a bicycle that I’d love to see in my bathroom!
